Campground Review of Heart of the Forest RV Park in Michigan

Heart of the Forest RV Park in northern-ish Michigan was an awesome place to unwind and relax for a week. This RV Park is smack dab in the middle of Manistee National Forest. It is full of beautiful lush trees and vegetation just waiting to be explored by people like you and me!

PULL-THRU AND BEAUTIFUL!

I felt like we were pretty spoiled with a pull-thru site having such a small rig to begin with. We did request full-hookups and I think the pull-thru spots were the only full-hookups they had beyond their seasonal spots. No complaining here! Just do make sure you center yourself as there is a slight drop on either side for drainage.

NOISE LEVEL

The campground itself was very quiet besides the occasional loud vehicle passing by the main road beyond the tree line. It is also far enough away from towns that you can get a good view of the stars at night FYI. Pretty sure that was our nightly ritual at this campground.

BATHHOUSE, A LITTLE MUSTY

We never really used the bathhouse all too much because we prefer single shower stalls that can be locked behind us for privacy. However, if you don’t mind a be of a musty smell due to I’m guessing lack of ventilation, this bathroom otherwise looked fine. The laundry facilities are on the opposite side of the restrooms. All washers and dryers worked great and we were able to get our laundry done no issues at this campground.

CELL/WIFI SIGNAL?

Just like most campgrounds, Heart of the Forest did not have any wifi setup at this particular spot, so we did have to rely on cell signal in order to work. As I state in the video, AT&T was really the clear winner at this campground (speeds around 20Mbps down and up). Verizon I believe was doable, but I don’t remember the exact speeds (sorry about that). When I say doable it is usually at least 5Mbps down/up in order for us to work without interruption.

THINGS TO DO?

As you all know probably know by now (unless you are just here for the review, which thanks for reading!) we really do love to go hiking and exploring. This really strives to give us the motivation to keep living on this unique lifestyle of full-time RVing. We first actually took a drive over the Manistee to check out Lake Michigan and run some errands.

There is a really cool lighthouse you can go check out, if you go to the correct side of the pier as we did not lol. There are also a plethora of different beaches along the shore you can check out.

We also really enjoyed checking out Orchard Beach State Park as well as Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area. Orchard Beach State Park is near Manistee, but Nordhoues Dunes is about a half hour south of that area if you want to venture that far.

TIPPY DAM RECREATION AREA

There is also a really neat place called Tippy Dam Recreation Area. We decided to take a day off filming and just enjoy this for ourselves, but definitely recommend this area if you want to relax by the Manistee River.

Kozy Kitchen

BIGGEST PANCAKE EVER.

Last but NOT least, if you enjoy pancakes…you can literally walk over to an awesome place called Kozy Kitchen just on the other side of the tree line of the RV park. I know this photo makes my hand look small, but notice how you don’t actually see a plate in the picture.

I promise, there is a plate under those 2 pancakes somewhere. I hate maybe half of 1 pancake and had breakfast for another few days after that. Talk about getting your money’s worth.
