Amenities:

Horse Cave KOA located just northeast of Mammoth Cave National Park is probably one of the smallest KOAs I’ve seen, but the amenities are still on par with other KOAs. It has mini-golf, a bounce pillow, basketball court (with what looked to be 11ft rims…), swimming pool, dog park, petting zoo, beach volleyball, dump station, campground supply store, and some relatively nice bathhouses.

At this KOA you can camp via RV, tent, or even rent a cabin. I would say most of the campsites throughout this park are fairly level, except all the ones near us that were completely horrible. Check out the video at the top of this post and you can see how unlevel these sites really are.

Although we didn’t check it out, I believe you might be able to fish in the pond towards the interstate side of the campground.

Discounts:

No additional discounts here beyond being a KOA member and getting your 10% off.

Noise Level:

Minus a ridiculously loud diesel truck from one of our neighbors (something had to be wrong with this thing) the noise wasn’t too horrible. On one side of the campground you have a beautiful scenic view of the country side, but the other is of course the interstate. Just like most interstates, this one can be noisy and really just depends on the traffic going by at the time. Not exactly a place we would stay for another week, but would be just fine for a weekend.

Dog Friendly?

This park is very dog friendly with zero restrictions that I am aware of. Blaze enjoyed his stay here, which helps when you can’t take dogs with you inside of Mammoth Cave National Park. 😉

Big Rig Friendly?

Yes and no. If you get a site towards the top of the campground or at the bottom, I saw many big rigs get in and out of those just fine. Anywhere in between those spots and I wouldn’t try it until they level things out. We had a big 5th wheel pull in next to us and it was just not possible for them to get level so they had to move to another spot (or leave).

Cell Signal:

If you are digital nomads like we are, cell signal is crucial. Both AT&T and Verizon were producing great signal and we were both able to work easily without any issues.

Things to Do in the Area:

There is a ridiculous amount of things to do this in this area. Turns out it has gotten really touristy around Mammoth Cave National Park with a bunch of other smaller cave systems, ziplines, and well…just make sure you get a booklet from the RV park with all the local attractions.

We actually made 3 different videos on Mammoth Cave National Park including 1 hiking on top and 2 different cave tours. Click here if you want to see the blog post containing those videos, or just hop on over to our YouTube channel and watch it there.
