Campground Review of Lake Tawakoni RV Park in Texas

Lake Tawakoni RV Park, east of Dallas, is an awesome spacious campground that is perfect if you have a Thousand Trails Membership. It can get a bit expensive otherwise, but if you want out in the middle of nowhere, this place is perfect for you!

Amenities at Lake Tawakoni RV Park:

Lake Tawakoni RV Park has a good number of folks actually living long-term in various parts of the campground, so as you can imagine, they have quite a few amenities enticing folks to stay.

They have a clubhouse, multiple swimming pools, a hot tub, fishing, a fitness center, RV/Boat storage, various short hiking trails, mini-golf, bathhouses w/showers, laundry facility, a marina, playgrounds, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, billards/game room, dog run area (not fenced in), a driving range, and softball field.

Although Lake Tawakoni RV Park is located about a half hour from any large grocery store, there is plenty of things to do at the park itself until you need to resupply.

Noise Level:

Almost perfectly quiet. If the weather is behaving nicely and the wind isn’t blowing your trailer back and forth, it is usually completely peaceful at this campground. We had a spot right on the water so there was the occasional boat, but nothing too obnoxious.

The one obnoxious sound we had one LATE night, was a boat driving around the edges of the lake. I’m assuming they were checking water levels or something since we had just gotten a ton of rain, but goodness it was very bad timing and loud.

Dog Friendly at Lake Tawakoni RV Park?

Most definitely. There were dogs all over this park and I don’t remember seeing any size restrictions. Be sure to check their website listed on the top of this post in case any policies change in the future.

Big Rig Friendly?

Yes. From little pop-up campers, to huge class As/5th wheels, we saw them all at this campground. Lake Tawakoni RV Park is very massive with plenty of loops to camp at. It might get busy during the summer time, but there were PLENTY of spots while we were there in April.

Cell Signal and Wifi:

If you are digital nomads like we are, cell signal is crucial. AT&T was the stronger of the two signals here at the park, but Verizon wasn’t completely horrible. However, this changes depending where you are within this massive RV park. So if you definitely need it, try loop “I” where we were located.

Things to Do in the Area:

Honestly, we didn’t go too far outside this campground for the two weeks staying here. We used this as a base camp to work and we also did head into Dallas, TX a couple times during our stay to get annual appointments done. Dallas isn’t a short driving distance however, it is still about an hour to an hour and a half away.
