If you haven’t had a chance yet, take a look at our 2020 Cedar Creek 29IK Fifth Wheel video located at the top of this post. I’m mainly creating this blog post to give you a bit more details what I (Shane) liked and disliked about this travel trailer to hopefully help you in your search.

LAYOUT/DESIGN

THE GOOD

The first thing I noticed when stepping in this 5th wheel was the fact that it truly felt like a home. With the opposing slides it really offers an open floor plan and the island gives it that finished touch.

With the entertainment center in the rear of the trailer, it gives a lot more space in order to sit down for a movie night whether you are at the couch, or at the two super comfy recliners.

Not to mention it has great lighting coming from the slides in order to enjoy the amazing views from wherever you are settled!

THE BAD

Living in our RV full-time I really prefer floor plans that allow you to access the refrigerator even when the slides are in. Some opposing slides offer this feature, but the island is actually blocking the refrigerator while the slides are in.

Just like the refrigerator, all the rear storage access is blocked off when the slides are in. If this isn’t a big deal for you, then you should really enjoy this layout. 🙂

The bathroom seems a bit small for such a large 5th wheel, but the bedroom does help make up for that with a huge king sized bed.

APPLIANCES

The appliances in the 2020 Cedar Creek 29IK Fifth Wheel give off a very luxurious vibe. In this price range you get a really nice stove/oven combo with a convection oven to go along with it!

The rear fireplace is a really nice addition to keep you warm on those cooler days and who could get mad at a 50″ TV for rainy days being stuck in the trailer!

This 5th wheel also has a 12 gallon hot water heater which really is double the size of our current Grand Design. Although this trailer only has one bed in it, you could definitely get a few longer showers in with this thing.

Almost all the controls in this RV are managed by digital buttons. That could be a good or bad thing depending if everything is working correctly. If it is working, I imagine the ease of use really makes this 5th wheel feel luxurious.

COMFORT

With a pretty decent layout making this RV already feel like home, the comfort level definitely matches that vibe. The couches, recliner, and even the dining chairs were fairly comfortable. I wanted to take a nap in the recliner once leaning back a bit!

The king sized bed is HUGE, but as most RV beds isn’t really all that comfortable. However, if you slapped in a memory foam mattress in that area…I imagine it would be hard getting up each more to go out and explore!

One major comfort to this RV is the fact that is has an area in the back to hook up a washer/dryer combo! We would LOVE having one of these living in our RV full-time. It would save you a bunch of time/effort/and money having to go to the laundry whenever clothes are needing to be washed. (Might not be a big deal if you only take your rig out on weekends).

Add in a ceiling fan, 2 fantastic fans, and a ducted AC/furnace and you have yourselves a comfortable RV in all types of weather!

BUILD QUALITY

In the 2020 Cedar Creek 29IK Fifth Wheel the build quality is actually pretty great. The cabinets themselves are actually fairly standard, but with the really nice counter tops it makes you feel at home.

Added features like a peep hole to see who is at the front door, a very laid out wet bay for hookups, and an auto-leveling system and you are staying in quite a well thought out rig.

If we were to tow something a little heavier, I think I would definitely consider the Cedar Creek lineup as one of our options. I wouldn’t feel safe towing it with a F250, so F350 (maybe even dually) would be best for a rig this size.

Although it isn’t REAL tile in the bathroom (most RV don’t have it) it seems as though the shower material will last quite a long time. The toilet in the bathroom is porcelain (always a plus) in order to allow ease of cleaning.

Everything seemed very solid from the front to the back of this RV with no flaws from the factory that I could notice.

The drawers through the RV had a gentle close to them to avoid all that normal noise when opening and closing them. It is good to have a secure connection when going down the road, but really glad they put that extra little touch to make them quiet when trying to open things whilst someone else is sleeping.

STORAGE

Storage should not be an issue in this rig whether you are taking it out for weekends or even extended stays. There is definitely a heck of a lot more storage in this unit that our 30′ Grand Design 273mk.

Outside storage you get a huge pass through and a pretty large front storage bay. They even move the battery bay off to the side of the rig to allow more room for storage up front.

Inside storage from the back all the way up to the front you have more than enough for all your camping needs. The rear entertainment area has a bunch of storage, storage above the slide, tons of cubbies around the kitchen appliances, underneath the kitchen sink, a huge pantry, and a HUGE closet in the bedroom.

The only thing that is really hurting with storage is in the bathroom itself, but if you need to find a place to store towels etc, it shouldn’t be too hard to find another spot in the rig to  do so.

BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

Now all the other categories that I mentioned above were pretty opinionated, and this would probably be the most opinionated category. This will really depend what you want out of the fifth wheel you are purchasing and how much you plan on using it.

For me personally I actually live in our fifth wheel full-time, so my opinion may vary quite a bit from yours.

I rated this a 3/5 because although this is a fairly luxurious fifth wheel, a lot of the options added to try to compensate for the price just don’t cut it.

Sure the auto-leveling system is great, all the appliances are wonderful, the comfort level makes it feel like you are living at home, but the MSRP is pretty far up there. I would definitely try to look for a used rig of similar layout myself, since there are definitely other models with similar features released in previous years.

If this 2020 Cedar Creek 29IK Fifth Wheel its all your needs and you can’t find something else with a similar layout or build quality, then this might just be your rig. RVs come in all shapes and sizes so it all comes down to what exactly you need/want.
