Three Easy and Dog Friendly Hikes Around Phoenix Arizona

Howdy all and thanks for coming to check out our blog! In this post we discuss three easy and dog friendly hikes around Phoenix Arizona! We were in this area around January and February of 2020 and there is so much to see and do! We only captured three of our fun hikes on film, but this area boasts TONS of hiking opportunities from easy to difficult.

All of these hikes were awesome so I will just hit up each one in chronological order from when we visited.

Phoenix Sonoran Preserve

This was our first adventure in the Phoenix area because it wasn’t too far away from the campground we were staying at on the north side. Although it was winter, it was still a fairly warm day so we didn’t hit too hard of a trail with our 10 year old  (at the time) dog Blaze.

Since we were new to the area, we honestly had no idea how green it was even in the desert. During all of our travels we were learning so much that locals probably figured was common knowledge or common sense.

White Tank Mountain Regional Preserve

Although (spoiler alert) the waterfall itself didn’t turn out to be that spectacular on this visit, the area around White Tanke Mountain Regional Preserve is absolutely beautiful. The hike does gather a bit of elevation gain over time but it is a gradual gain. There is a bit a shade towards the end of the trail if you head out on one of the many sunny days in the Phoenix greater area.

Deem Hills Recreation Area

Our third and final dog friendly hike in the Phoenix area (at least thus far) was at Deem Hills Recreation Area. This was also on the north side of Phoenix not too far away from the campground we were staying at. This place has a very small parking area so if you plan on hitting it up, go bright and early. This place was also being traveled by some bike riders, so if you are hiking along make sure you keep an eye out for them! Out of all the trails, this was especially rocky and Blaze didn’t like it as much, but still had a fun time exploring.
