ATR RV Park Campground Review – Oklahoma

What ATR RV Park doesn’t pack in amenities, it sure does pack in some beautiful views! If you are a digital nomad like ourselves, this is a perfect place to get some peace and quiet while also being super close to the amazing Wichita Mountains!

Amenities at ATR RV Park:

While staying at ATR RV Park you won’t find a swimming pool, hot tub, or even a nearby bathhouse…but you will find a relatively cheap option to stay while exploring the area!

We had full-hookups 50amp service while visiting this ATR RV Park and honestly it was perfect for a week’s stay. If you need a bathhouse to use, you can swing over across the street to Lawtonka’s very own city campground. We didn’t want to risk not having a spot over there (first come first serve) so we opted right across the road to ATR RV Park. It worked out perfectly!

Discounts:

None that I am aware of, but with $180 a week, it was a steal for the gorgeous views!

Noise Level:

Minus normal sounds like folks mowing their lawns or artillery shells from the nearby military base, it was relatively quiet. I am not joking about the artillery shells, but honestly it was far and few between. It is kind of cool hearing them in the distance and luckily during the day and not at night.

No road noise really at all. The main road through the area isn’t really heavily traveled on, even though it is such a beautiful area.

Dog Friendly at ATR RV Park?

Most definitely. Blaze had a blast exploring the area with no issues whatsoever. The owners have a cute pup as well that was roaming the area a bit while visiting, but was very friendly.

Big Rig Friendly?

You betcha! There were plenty of big class As and 5th wheels while we were staying there. Most folks were there longer than we were, but the place was kept tidy. Not a ton of things accumulating around the longer term stay. Always happy when places are kept clean!

Cell Signal and Wifi:

If you are digital nomads like we are, cell signal is crucial. Both AT&T and Verizon worked perfectly for us while staying at this campground. It was hard to believe since it really does feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere, but apparently the signal travels well!

Things to Do in the Area:

The main reason we came to this area was to see the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. While visiting we hiked three trails throughout the mountains. Our first blog post contained two hikes at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and our second post was our adventure up Mt. Scott (which you can no longer drive, at least as of April 2019).

Beyond the hiking trips though, Medicine Park is a beautiful nearby town you can go check out. It has a bunch of really neat cobblestone houses and some neat stores you can go venture through as well.
