Hiking Candlewood Mountain Trail in Connecticut

by Shane

Candlewood Mountain Trail was a trail we found while reading a book called “AMC’s Best Day Hikes in Connecticut: Four-Season Guide to 50 of the Best Trails from the Highlands to the Coast.” The book is filled of a lot of cool hikes throughout Connecticut and we highly recommend it as a reference if you need information on hiking.

If you plan on hiking this trail we recommend you do it during dry weather especially if you take the Kelly’s slide loop. The rocks can get pretty steep and when they are slick they can make the trail dangerous.

Also be aware as most trails in Connecticut that you will come across mosquitoes as well as ticks. On just this trail I pulled 4 ticks off of myself, but I wasn’t wearing any spray. So make sure you take the proper precautions especially during tick season!
